Huge shoutouts to all the Homewood staff who have helped reach out to our families during the pandemic.  Since school closed on March 13th, Homewood has served more than 55 families in various capacities, including distributing and delivering:

  • More than 600 bags of groceries
  • 55 trays of Chicken nuggets and 55 gallons of iced tea from Chick-fil-A
  • $12,500 worth of grocery store gift cards
  • 55 fresh produce boxes and 55 fresh meal kit boxes from the roving radish

We have received direct donations, grants and support to fund this work from:

  • HCPSS Central Office Staff and their family members
  • The Glenelg Cluster Staff and Families
  • Wilde Lake High School PTSA
  • Leadership Howard County

  • Harris Teeter Turf Valley
  • The Local Children’s Board – $12,000 in combined grants, a portion of which was re-purposed to emergency COVID19 Food Response
  • EdFirst, The NoVo Foundation and Rockefeller Philanthropy Trust – $5,000 Family Involvement PLUS Grant, a portion of which was re-purposed to emergency COVID19 Food Response
  • AdCap Challenge; $3,000; School Nutrition Innovation Grant, a portion of which was re-purposed to emergency COVID19 Food Response
  • HoCo Respond, including The Horizon Foundation, The Women’s Giving Circle, The Community Foundation of Howard County and The United Way – $16,000 Food and Essential Supplies Grant awarded on May 5, 2020
